YAO Business Simulation Competition (YAO BSC) is an international business simulation competition for students aged 14–18 (middle and high school). Participants take on the role of managers running a virtual company, making real-world business decisions in a risk-free environment. Through the competition, students develop entrepreneurial thinking, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills while applying the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to business challenges.

2. Competition Journey
Teams consist of 4–8 members. Individual applicants are welcome and will be assigned to a team by the organizers. Competition rounds are conducted either online or in person, depending on each participating country.
1. School Qualifying Round Held within participating schools, partner schools, or as an Open Competition for individual participants. | 2. National Round Winning teams and qualified participants from the School Round refine their business strategies and compete for national recognition. | 3. Odyssey Summit – Singapore The final stage is a five-day international summit in Singapore, featuring sustainability activities, advanced business simulations, presentations before an expert judging panel, and competition for the Global Champion title. |
3. Online Competition Process
- SDGs Learning Module: A three-hour self-paced course covering the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Knowledge Assessment: A short multiple-choice quiz requiring a minimum score of 80%.
- Business Idea Video: Submit a 3–5 minute video presenting a sustainable business concept.
- Startup Business Simulation: Manage a virtual startup through seven competitive business simulation rounds.
Competition Day Challenge Modules
- SDGs Masterclass – Building a solid understanding of sustainable development principles.
- Trade & Negotiation Challenge – Competing directly with other teams through business negotiations and trading activities.
- Startup Business Simulation – Managing a virtual company and making strategic decisions throughout multiple business rounds.
- Business Pitch & Investment Presentation – Presenting business proposals to a panel of judges acting as investors while competing against other teams.
4. Certificates, Awards & Benefits
- Gold, Silver, and Bronze Certificates, endorsed by respected international organizations including GYLDC, GSLDC, OSG Youth Alliance, and ACT Global Solutions, strengthening students' academic portfolios.
- Opportunities to participate in the Global Youth Leadership Development Council (GYLDC) and the Odyssey Summit in Singapore.
- Eligibility to apply for the OSG Scholarship Scheme.
- Access to the Young Entrepreneurs Mentoring Council, connecting participants with experienced mentors and industry professionals.
